Anti Aging Treatments Are About Much More Than Merely Removing the Wrinkle Off Ones Face

Friday, July 6th, 2007

I don’t think there is any person in the whole wide world who doesn’t want to continue looking young, even after they have passed middle age. Everyone, no matter how young or old they actually are, would like to look and feel young.

This is not just related to the aesthetic appearance based things but also to general health and well being. Nobody likes the wrinkles and pains that old age brings with it. Which is why, anti-aging research has been the one industry where billions of dollars have been pumped in over the past few years. All of it in the quest for anti aging treatments! When one uses the phrase ‘anti aging treatments’, the first thing that comes to mind is anti wrinkle creams! In fact, these creams have become almost synonymous with anti aging treatments and have thus given the entire genre a stunted and narrow definition. But anti aging treatments are about much more than merely removing the wrinkle off ones face! Anti aging treatments are all about holistically treating the aging human body to make it look and feel young. And this involves much more than the merely superficial. Although looking young is most evident in the physical appearance, it has a lot more to do with the overall health and fitness of the body. And genuine anti aging treatments will concentrate on the inner well being as a precursor to external appearance. But the world of anti wrinkle creams, face stretching creams and the like have given the entire field of anti aging treatments a bad name. Superficial anti aging treatments treat merely the external body. But even then, superficial anti aging treatments are a multi million dollar industry. Studies estimate that nearly 80% of the over the counter drugs and creams sold as part of anti aging treatments, actually belong to the superficial or external cosmetic category. And when the industry itself is worth several billions, you can safely imagine how large that is!But more important than using anti aging products, is learning to choose the one that are beneficial. It is not true to say that all prescribed anti aging products are beneficial. In fact, any cosmetic anti aging product brings with it a certain amount of side effects. This is because anti aging product go against nature as it were. They try to reverse and sustain what is essentially a natural degradation of the human body. And anything that tries to reverse the natural, naturally faces resistance. This resistance could take the form of mild, rashes and pains. But if intensive chemical anti aging treatments like invasive surgery, botox injections and the like are used, they could leave more serious effects like scarring and freezing of the facial tissue. However, there is a school of thought that anti aging treatments are a recourse adopted by the busy and the stressed out population as a way to regain their youth. It has been found for instance that almost all anti aging treatments are used by urban and cosmopolitan dwellers. Rural dwellers on the other hand

, scarcely feel the need to use anti aging treatment. Their simple lives help them live longer and fitter lives.

Are You Looking for an Aging Skin Care Product or a Diet that Will Permanently Remove Your Wrinkles?

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Aging skin care is a topic of interest to a lot of people today. With the Baby Boom generation heading into retirement, and people living longer than ever, there are more aging and elderly people alive today than there has ever been before

One of the most visible and readily apparent signs of age is the effects on skin, namely wrinkles. Aging skin care is thus of primary concern for people that want to slow down the visible effects of their age. Wrinkles are caused by damage to the proteins in your skin responsible for its elasticity. The protein in skin primarily responsible for its elasticity is appropriately named ‘elastin’. Like any other protein, elastin is subject to damage from free radicals and UV radiation. Essentially, it is free radicals that do all the damage in the long run, and aging skin care basically falls into different ways to counter their effects. A free radical is just a scientific word for any number of oxygen molecules that have been split and are therefore very reactive, damaging any proteins or DNA molecules they crash into before being absorbed. The DNA damage they do can lead to skin cancers, and the protein damage they do leads to wrinkles. Free radicals are absorbed by substances called antioxidants, and so any aging skin care that involves the use of antioxidants will likely be effective.Antioxidants can be applied in the form of a cream or moisturizer, directly to the skin. Some common examples are vitamins C and E, and the compound Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA). These compounds will not reverse wrinkles, but will help slowdown their onset. Even more important is maintaining a diet that is high in antioxidants. Fruits, berries, and dark colored vegetables are all high in antioxidants and are therefore important in aging skin care. Perhaps more important than antioxidants is reducing the amount of free radicals you introduce into your body in the first place. UV radiation will split oxygen present in your skin into free radicals, and smoking essentially soaks your body in an assortment of free radicals as well. Quitting smoking and avoiding excessive sun exposure are thus great first steps to take for aging skin care. If you are planning on being in the sun, make sure you apply plenty of sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. A combination of all these measures will help you maintain youthful looking skin longer. If you already have wrinkles, using plenty of moisturizers or anti-aging creams may help reduce their appearance

, but there aren’t any products that will permanently remove wrinkles.

Frugal Beauty Tricks With Lipstick.

Friday, July 6th, 2007

What do you do with a tube of melted lipstick? Waste not, want not. These frugal tips help you make the most of that lipstick.

What do you do with a melted lipstick?

Isn’t it a shame when your favourite lipstick melts in the summer heat. Rather than throw it, recycle it. Scrape out its contents with a clean lip brush or tiny spatula and transfer it to a small jar. You can still use it with the help of a lip brush. No doubt, it wouldn’t be as glamorous or convenient as slicking it on straight from the tube, but you can still get the pretty look by dipping your lip brush into the melted lipstick and painting it onto your lips.

You can also turn some of your lipstick into a lip gloss.

Do you have a tiny travel size cream jar that’s empty?Wash and dry the jar. Then fill half of that jar with Vaseline which you can get at http://www.shoppingsuzy.com/Vaseline.htm . Some women swear by that gooey stuff. It can also be used as a colorless lip gloss and to moisturize dry lips and dry skin while you sleep. Use a clean brush to scoop some lipstick and mix it with the vaseline. For a light hint of color, a little lipstick should do the trick. If you want more color, add in more lipstick. You can even combine more than one lip color to get your ideal shade, for your perfect lip gloss.

Instead of a cream blush, you can save money by using your favourite lipstick as a cream blush. Just take a tiny dab of lipstick and apply that to the apples of your cheeks, then blend it in for that rosy glow. No need to worry about whether your blusher matches your lipstick. By getting your lipstick to double up as cheek color, you’d be certain your lipstick and cheek color match. Only catch is that if you have acne prone skin it might clog your pores. If you are prone to acne

, you should stick to powder cheek color as lipstick on cheeks might give you pimples.

Keep Safe Around ATM\\\’s

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Learn to be safe around ATM machines.

ATM bank cash machines have become part our way of life. They offer a real convenience to those on the run, but at the same time offer an element of risk. Using a automated teller safely requires awareness and some planning. Just because a ATM machine is open all the time doesn’t mean it is always safe to operate it.

ATM Robbery Considerations

Many ATM robberies happen at night between 7pm and midnight when the machine only produces 10% of the daily transactions. Between 7pm and 4am, the machines process only 11% of the total daily customers but suffer the majority of the crime.

Who Are the Crooks?

Bank ATM robbers are generally males under 25 years of age and many of them work alone. ATM robbers usually position themselves nearby and wait for a victim to come along and take out money. Many ATM robbery victims are women and many are alone when robbed. Most claim that they never saw the robber coming. Most ATM crooks used a gun or claimed to have a concealed weapon when confronting the victim and taking their money.

Pick a Secure Location

Use only ATM kiosks in well-lighted, high-visibility areas. ATMs inside busy stores are considered safe. Don’t use ATM machines that are remote or hidden like those located behind buildings, behind pillars, walls, or away from public view. Beware of obvious hiding places like shrubs or overgrown areas. ATM robbers like to surprise you and want no witnesses. Robbers like good escape routes like nearby freeway on-ramps or high speed thoroughfares.

Get a list of ATM locations from your bank branch and keep it in your car. Pick an ATM that looks and feels safer, even if it is a couple of miles out of the way. Don’t use ATMs at night. Take someone with you after hours, if you can. When you drive up to an ATM location, watch the area for any suspicious activity. If you see anyone suspicious that is standing nearby or sitting by themselves in a car, drive away. When you approach an ATM on foot be prepared and have your ATM card ready. Memorize your personal PIN number to prevent loss and don’t write it down. After inserting your card and your PIN number keep an eye out around you. Never accept an offer to help or request for help from a suspicious person while at the ATM.

Be Alert

If anyone suspicious or seemingly dangerous approaches stop your transaction and leave immediately. Tell the suspicious person in a loud, confident voice to “back-off” and leave you alone. This is designed to startle the person and give you time to get away. It is much easier to apologize later or suffer a little embarrassment for your fear than to become a robbery victim. When you get your cash from the machine put it away immediately, extract your card, and walk away.

If you use your car at a bank drive-thru ATM machine the same rules apply. Make sure there are no obvious hiding spots or suspicious people watching in the area. If there are, listen to your inner instinct and drive away. Keep your doors locked and the car in drive, with your foot firmly on the brake, while using the ATM machine. Keep a close eye on your rear and side view mirrors during the transaction. Thieves almost always appear from the rear on the drivers’ side. If you notice anyone approaching, drive off even if it means leaving your ATM card behind. If you are confronted by an armed thief

, just offer up your cash without argument. The cash is not worth serious harm or death. Go to a safe place and call the police right away.

Swim Suits Fashion In 2007 And In The Early Times!

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Swim suits for the summer 2007 are out! Where do you fit with your fashion style?

Swim suits worn by American women have certainly come a long way since the late nineteen century era, when women had to cover up by wearing specially designed woolen swim dresses.  Modesty had to be upheld at all costs, and trying to stay afloat wearing this type of swim suit would have been so very difficult as all the layers became waterlogged. Wouldn’t these women be shocked to see the latest trend in swim suits today, particularly the thong bikini which is regarded as the sexiest and stylish of all swim wear? Now the latest trends in swim suits can be seen in bikinis, bandinis, tankinis and of course the classic one piece swim suits.  Swim suits don’t have to be brief to look good; some of the one piece swim suits can look even sexier leaving a little more to the imagination.

Swim suits and designer swim wear caters for an enormous variety of shapes and sizes. Swim suits have to stretch over bulges and bumps and still look attractive when the mission is accomplished.  This can be no mean feat when we take a cross section of the population and put a swim suit on them. Most of us at some stage in our lives will own a swim suit, whether it is a child’s swim suit or a swim suit for a teenager or adult. The opportunity does come along where we can visit the beach or a pool where a swim suit will be a necessity.

When choosing your 2007 swimwear, there are rules that one should follow so that your swim suit will be as flattering to your shape as possible.  Not many of us are fortunate enough to own the body of a swim suit model, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t look good. Getting a qualified sales attendant to help with styles is always valuable when buying a swim suit as they know which cut is more flattering to which figure type. Things like the cut of the leg are really important when buying a swim suit.  Design also plays a very important role in swim suits, large floral designs will not look so good on the larger figure, and nor will horizontal stripes. Color is also very important in swimwear.  White looks great with a tan, but it will be very difficult to keep it looking like new.

We all would like to look good in a swim suit, and choosing a swimsuit is easy with the huge range of styles available. Not only that, but swimsuits are made to suit any budget, if you can afford diamond trimmed bikinis then you will be able to find them. Taking note of care instructions when you purchase your swim suit will prolong its life.  Chlorinated water from swimming pools is fairly damaging to swim suits and should be rinsed out. Fading and eventual rotting of the elastine will be the result of neglect. On the whole though, swim suits are one item that are very easy to care for, as they need minimal washing usually just a good rinse will do.

I’ll see you parading on Florida’s beaches this summer

500,000 in the World Will Be Diagnosed With Cervical Cancer this Year; 300,000 Will Die From It!

Friday, July 6th, 2007

You don’t know what you got till it’s gone; you don’t appreciate it until it happens to you…blah, blah, blah. Such are the clichйs and sentiments of those of us who get into a major accident and the insurance company of the offending driver, the drunk who slammed into you, refuses full retribution

Those are the tunes played by those of us who lose a partner or spouse to another because we were too demanding, too difficult, too different. And those are the hackneyed statements, the only trite and obvious things we can come up with to utter when we find out our best friend of twenty-nine years has a unique form of cervical cancer that might allow her to live, oh, another year at most.Yes, my friend has cervical cancer, what is less familiarly known as invasive endometrial adenocarcinoma. You understand “invasive” and from human sexuality class way back you get the “endometrial” part. But what you cannot seem to wrap your brain around is carcinoma…cancer. She is your age, which, last time you knew, was NOT old, was not dying time. But the condition she is in is that of what 5% of all other cervical cancer patients have survived. The other 95% had lesser complications: the cancer had not spread to the lymph nodes, which are very soft, very fleshy, very vulnerable to a corrosive agent chomping its way through human tissue. If you are smart or have a strong stomach, you do a search for the causes, effects, symptoms, treatments, outcomes, support groups, and residual fallout of cervical cancer. You might find statistics: 500,000 cases worldwide; 300,000 die. 10,370 in US will be diagnosed with it; 3,710 will die. Mortality rates have declined by 50% over the last three decades.Treatment includes cryogenics-freezing of the dysplasia, which is the culprit in its earliest stages (which was in your best friend when she was 20). Treatment might be preceded by a colposcopy-the use of a special scope (with a 40X magnifying power) that allows for examination of the cervix. It might mean laser surgery-wherein the offending growth (also called metastasis) is burned off/out. Treatment might include early conization-meaning a biopsy is done by taking a cone of the cervical canal. It might also require or point to the need for radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy, depending upon the severity, urgency, and choices the cervical cancer patient makes.Cervical cancer works its way in stages, or exists in areas that are measured in stages: in stage I, the cancer invades the cervix beneath the top layer of cells. In stage II, the cancer extends beyond the cervix into nearby tissues, to the upper part of the vagina, and/or to the pelvic wall. In stage III, the cancer extends to the lower part of the vagina, and may be spreading into the pelvic wall and nearby lymph nodes. And in stage IV, the cancer has extended to the least protected or defensible parts of the body-the bladder, rectum, and/or other organs and parts of the body.My friend has been found to have stage III cervical cancer, which may have reached the lymph nodes in the lungs. If this is the case, which we will know in six days, when the latest tests come back to her brilliant staff of oncologists and specialists. In some respects, she is lucky. She has been a health care provider to the elderly (as she is a clinical nurse specialist in the top of her field) for twenty years. So she will have that Florence Nightingale Clara Barton karma returned tenfold. At the same time, the numbers are not good for her stage of cervical cancel, despite what I think is a shockingly young age-45. In other respects, then, she aint so “lucky” and I am reeling from the surreality of our friendship coming to an end in the corporeal sense after we have been through so much worse it seemed at the time

, and after we have used survival humor through it all. What else can you do?

Warning! Digital Blood Pressure Monitors Could Show Indications of Erroneous Readings…

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Of late, I’ve been having a bad dose of luck as far as my health is concerned. Fatigue, stress and a unhealthy lifestyle have been taking a toll on my health. A visit to the doctor too confirmed my worst fears. And I found that I too had become a statistic - I had high blood pressure

Although I took the advice the doctor gave me as well as the medicines he prescribed, my busy working schedule did not leave me with sufficient time to go to the clinic to monitor my blood pressure frequently. So I decided to shop for a simple and effective blood pressure monitor.Surprisingly, there are a number of models available in the market. There are the very simple blood pressure monitors that are manually operated. You might have seen these blood pressure monitors with some of the older doctors in your city. It looks like a bread box and opens up to reveal a U tube with mercury in it. A rubber hose is attached to a pad that is wound around your arm. An attached rubber ball is squeezed to increase and decrease the air pressure. And you can thus monitor your blood pressure. In clinical terms, such blood pressure monitors are known as aneroid blood pressure monitors There is also a variation of the blood pressure monitor I saw, which uses a dial gauge to tell the pressure. Of course, such blood pressure monitors are not easy to use and operate and require a certain degree of skill. And being the lazy person that I am, I needed something that was far more convenient. My next stop brought me in touch with the latest in the blood pressure monitor world. While the earlier blood pressure monitor has literally been banned from use in most hospitals, the varieties I saw in this store were the latest and the best. And almost all of them were what have come to be know and accepted as digital blood pressure monitors. There were portable, wrist model blood pressure monitors, there were other blood pressure monitors that came with in built printers, there were slightly more advanced blood pressure monitors that compiled reports for ease of measurement and even blood pressure monitors with memory to keep track of your latest fifty or hundred readings. The breadth and scope of blood pressure monitors available was astounding.I finally managed to pick a blood pressure monitor that was small and compact, while being the latest in digital blood pressure monitoring systems. It also came with a detailed instruction booklet on how to take care of the blood pressure monitor, how to ensure that it functions effectively and, best of all, a booklet on how to use the blood pressure monitor to get rid of my high blood pressure! The very helpful salesman also took the time to tell me about the possibilities of errors that digital blood pressure monitors could have. Of course, he did so only when I had chosen and paid for the monitor, but I’m glad he did. For how else would I know that digital blood pressure monitors have a tendency to indicate erroneous readings if the body movements are vast and the heart rate is irregular. And using the same blood pressure monitor on different arms

, could lead to different results!

Most People With Anxiety and Depression Do Just That; Live With It!

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Anxiety and depression are by far the two most common mental illnesses diagnosed in the United States, and probably the world, although there haven’t been studies done to confirm it. They both can be debilitating in their effects, and are very difficult disorders to live with

Unfortunately, most people with anxiety and depression do just that; live with it. Most studies done of the diseases show that more than 75% of people who are clinically depressed go without treatment, as well as over 90% of people with anxiety disorders. This is especially disturbing, since both anxiety and depression are the most treatable forms of mental illnesses there are. There are a variety of medications that are available today to treat both anxiety and depression, and there are a lot of helpful resources out there that can help find the road to recovery from your symptoms. The two diseases are not fully understood, but are definitely related in some key ways. People suffering from anxiety disorders are many times more likely to also suffer from depression than someone without an anxiety condition. The same is true with people suffering from depression, in that they are more likely to also have an anxiety disorder. It is not surprising then that many of the anxiety and depression treatments are similar or even exactly the same. Traditionally, anxiety disorders have been treated with the use of sedatives. The first and most famous sedative used to treat anxiety is alcohol. Due to its toxic effects and highly addictive nature, barbiturates quickly replaced alcohol as a treatment for anxiety after their introduction to the medical world in 1912. Of course, it was soon realized that barbiturates suffer from many of the same drawbacks as alcohol, and today benzodiazapines have all but completely replaced barbiturates in anxiety treatment. While benzodiazapines are effective in treating anxiety, they too are highly addictive chemicals, and can actually make the symptoms of depression worse. So if you are worried about addiction, or are suffering from both anxiety and depression, you should avoid using sedatives of any kind to treat your symptoms. There are likewise some drugs that are good for treating certain forms of depression, but will actually worsen an anxiety disorder. Norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitors, such as Wellbutrin, have been shown effective in the treatment of depression, but are not recommended if you also suffer from anxiety. The SSRIs, or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, are medications that are effective in treating both anxiety and depression. Support groups, therapy, counseling, exercise, and a healthy diet, are all non-pharmaceutical ways of treating both disorders. If you suspect that you suffer from anxiety and depression, or either one, you should see a doctor. Both disorders are highly treatable

, but will likely only get worse without taking steps to recover.

Diabetes In Dogs - All About Diabetes

Friday, July 6th, 2007

I talk to a lot of people about diabetes and it seems that rarely do people give any thought at all about diabetes in dogs. Canine diabetes is on the increase to be sure.

There is really no difference with diabetes in people as it is in dogs, cats, or other animals. What can you do to protect your pet from getting diabetes? Here are some helpful tips.

Take a quick look at how and what you feed your dog. Are they being fed the proper diet? Is it drinking excessive amounts of water? Has your dog been gaining a great deal of weight suddenly, or likewise, losing a lot of weight for no reason? Do you notice them urinating more than normal? These could all be symptoms or an early warning sign of diabetes in dogs. I would suggest an annual medical check up for your pet to be sure.

If the results come back positive, and in fact has canine diabetes, it is a manageable disease. There are steps you can take in treating the disease. Have your dog’s insulin checked. A good vet can easily take care of this. They will take a blood draw from the animal’s body and test it. Your first duty is to get the glucose level to normal.

If your dog requires insulin shots, it works the same way as it does in people. When starting out it may seem extremely difficult, and your dog may not want to give you a whole lot of cooperation, but as time goes on, it will get better. Animals have a way of getting in routines just as humans do.

You also want to prepare yourself in the event your pet has a health emergency. See if some other members of your family will get some training with you in case you’re not there. Of course, the main responsibility of the day to day treatment will be yours, but if you are not there it should be left to one particular individual in the family.

Keep a record of your dog’s day-to-day health. Make notes on anything unusual. It would also be a good idea to have other important information wrote down that includes: the vet’s emergency phone number, steps to follow in case of too much insulin, precautions to be taken if the needle breaks and possibly what to do in the event of a seizure.

The biggest issue with diabetes in dogs is to be sure and monitor their blood glucose level. Your doctor may recommend bringing your dog in periodically to monitor the glucose levels.

Again, things can seem somewhat overwhelming at first with canine diabetes

, but everything will even itself out in time. Dogs are wonderful animals and your pet is certainly worth the effort to protect their health and allow them to lead a happy and healthy life. Keep an eye on the early warning signs of diabetes and take action if you see anything unusual.
